I like books

Monday 28th September

Reading is so much fun.
Which books do you like?

Please leave a comment telling us which book is your child’s favourite and why.

Our challenge this week is to read and remember the ‘tricky words’ I no go to into Just try and remember them children! Why not have fun and make some flash cards to play snap or hide for a word hunt, or to find them in your books.

Phonics: Letter sounds for this week are s a t p i n. Try out the activity in the video sorting objects into initial sound groups. Choose any two letters from the set above.

Mars children you will receive a ‘Free’ book to take home and enjoy this week. Let’s see how many fun places you can find to read in. Take a picture and send it in to the school office and I will post it on the blog for everyone to see. 📚

We are exploring our feelings and emotions too. Here is a song we are enjoying in class.

I’m excited to see who will send the first comment Mars and receive a MME badge.
Go on have a go 😃

‘ Things I Like’

This week we will be finding out more about the children and what makes them special by talking and writing about the things they like. We will be helping them to understand that we have different thoughts and ideas too.

Thank you to everyone who came to school with their PE kit and named uniform. We are working on getting undressed and dressed for PE. You can help your child by encouraging them to do this at home. (it may take a little longer but it is one of our learning goals). The children are so proud of themselves when they can do it independently

Naming and describing 2D shapes
The children have been learning to play a shape game, use their shapes to draw around and to describe them by talking about the number of corners and edges they have. We have also been looking for them in the objects around us. Please try this at home too.

Circle, triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon, pentagon and hexagon.

Reading Helping your child to read, please look in your child’s reading log for messages from their teachers. As your child learns their letter sounds, hears them in words, we will also help them to blend the sounds to make words.
