ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS 2021-2022

 

STARTING SCHOOL IN FOUNDATION STAGE

 

Worksop Priory C of E Primary Academy is a member of the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham Multi Academy Trust, who are the admissions authority for the academy.

Applications must be made through your home local authority on the Common Application form. For Nottinghamshire residents, this can be found on the NCC website

and applications should be completed by the closing date for applications as stated in the Nottinghamshire Coordinated scheme. The offer of a place will be made by the Local Authority to all parents on the ‘offer day’ set out in the co-ordinated scheme.

The published admissions number is 30 children per year. All applications for the Reception year will be ranked in accordance with the admission criteria, as set out below. All children who are allocated a place will be admitted on the first day of the autumn term. Parents have the legal right to defer beyond this point and in such cases these arrangements need to be agreed with the school on an individual basis. Parents may also request that their child takes up the place part-time until the child reaches compulsory school age.

Attendance in our Early Years (Foundation 1) at the Academy does not automatically guarantee a Reception (Foundation 2) place.

 

RIGHT OF APPEAL

 

Under the terms of the School Admissions Appeals Code 2012, if you apply for and are refused a place at Worksop Priory Academy you have the right to appeal.

Admission Appeals at SNMAT academies are managed by Nottinghamshire County Council Appeals Team, who provide an independent appeals process. If you decide that you wish to proceed with an appeal, you should within 20 school days of the date of the refusal letter complete the online form on Nottinghamshire County Council’s website:-

For parents/carers who are unable to use the online form, a printed form can requested from NCC’s customer contact centre – 0300 500 80 80.

Appeals at SNMAT academies will be heard by an Independent Appeals Panel in accordance with the School Admissions Code 2014, The School Admissions Appeals Code 2012 and Part 3 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.

 

The Academy operates a Waiting List for its intake year group in partnership with Nottinghamshire LA. This is kept and prioritised following the oversubscription criteria until the end of the autumn term.

Children with a statement of Special Educational Needs or Education Health and Care Plan that names the Academy will be admitted.

 

 

ADMISSION TO OTHER YEAR GROUPS

 

For admissions into other age groups within the school, applicants should contact the Local Authority Admissions team who will then forward your request to the school.

Where the school is unable to offer a place in such circumstances, an expression of interest list is held for each class.

Applicants should put their request to be held on this list in writing to the school office. Requests will be held on file until the end of each half-term. From that point, applicants wishing to remain on the list should contact the school BEFORE the end of each half-term to request they are kept on for the following term.

Unfortunately, due to time limitations, the school is unable to contact parents to ascertain their wishes each half-term. Expressions of interest cannot be placed indefinitely. If a place becomes available in a class where there is a live expression of interest, this place will be allocated using the normal school admissions criteria.

PLEASE NOTE: Our Application to Vary our 2021/22 Admission arrangements has been approved by the Regional Schools Commissioner.

Due to the temporary closure of Churches and other places of worship during the Covid19 Lockdown, (which has impacted on our normal process for verifying church attendance/faith commitment as specified in our admission arrangements), the SNMAT Trust (as our admissions authority) has applied for a variation to our 2021/22 admission arrangements. We have received confirmation that the proposed variation has been approved by the Regional School Commissioner.
